"Journey" by David C. Roy

Mr. Roy has been designing and handcrafting kinetic wall sculptures since 1975. Each is a wooden machine powered by a constant force spring that must be wound. This sculpture features more or less random horizontal, vertical and spiral motion (what the artist calls "bird motion"), which was created by adding mass to the middle wheel and two small springs for power. This design smoothed out the motion and had the added benefit of extending the running time.
Purchase was made possible through donations made to the Islip Public Library.

This sculpture is hanging on the wall near the Circulation desk.
